Now it’s time for some fun pics!  But first, THANK YOU for registering and supporting The Bridge!  Becky and Charlotte were present to represent the ministry and gave a big Thank You to all of you.

And don’t forget to celebrate the overall winners:  David Bohlken of Omaha won the men’s division with a time of 18:03, and Sonya Jongsma-Knauss of Sioux Center won the women’s division with a time of 20:58.  Congratulations!

How to Register Today or Tomorrow

We’re getting excited for tomorrow!  While online registration is closed, new registrants are welcome.  To register, simply come to the packet pickup Wednesday, 4:00 to 6:00 p.m., or Thursday, 6:30-7:00 a.m.  Packet Pickup is at Trinity Reformed Church, 201 St. Paul Ave SE.

And… here is the Schedule for Race Day…

SCHEDULE

Wednesday4:00 to 6:00 p.m. – Registration Packet Pickup at Trinity.  6:30 p.m. – Thanksgiving Eve Worship at Trinity.

Thursday:

6:30 Race day packet pick up – Trinity lobby
7:00 Close of race day registration
7:20 Welcome/The Bridge Thanksgiving/Prayer/Final Instructions
7:30 Race Start on St. Paul Ave near the north entrance
8:30 Awards Ceremony in Trinity lobby

A number of local churches also have Thanksgiving morning worship services. 

11:30 Community Meal at Living Water Community Church

PARKING
On race morning, please use the south entrance and avoid parking directly next to the main entrance as this will be the race finish area.

RESTROOMS, WATER & FOOD

Restrooms will be available in the church beginning at 6:30 am
Prerace water is available in the church lobby water fountains.
Post race food and drink will be available for runners and walkers only

CLOTHING & NUMBERS
Race number must be visible on the front of clothing at all times during race to be included in results.
There will not be a clothing check-in, please store extra clothing in your car. You may leave items in the church or parking lot, but items will not be secured.

FINISH & TIMING
The race finishes near the front door of Trinity.
Stay in order in the finish chute as your bib number is recorded.
Results will be available as close to 8:30 as possible and posted on the website later in the day.

We are less than a week away from our second ever Orange City Turkey Trot!

bridgeYes, winter came early, but let’s defy the cold and warm up our town by blessing The Bridge Transitional Housing Ministry.

In the name of Jesus, The Bridge is a program that provides housing, food, case management, education and counseling for women and their children.  Families that live at The Bridge have nowhere else to go.They are committed to moving forward and they long to be part of a community.

Every day these women and children face down the stiff cold winds in the winters of life.  By joining in this fun event, we will run with them as part of the journey and bring a little warmth through our encouragement.  Click the following links to register and for more information:

2014 Mission Recipient Named ~ “The Bridge”

We are pleased to announce that the 2014 recipient of fund raised will be The Bridge Transitional Housing for Women.

In the name of Jesus, The Bridge is a program that provides housing, food, case management, education and counseling for women and their children.

Families that live at The Bridge have nowhere else to go.They are committed to moving forward and they long to be part of a community.

Women that come to The Bridge may live there for up to two years.They are not charged rent, but are required to participate in the The Bridge program and follow house policy.

beckyEach family has their own room and access to a common living room and kitchen area. Food and basic items are provided by generous donors.

The Bridge recently welcomed new executive director, Becky Erdmann.  One project they are working on is a new van for transportation.  Let’s see how much we can bless this cause

The 2013 our focus was the Orange City Food Pantry.  Thanks to the 168 participants, $2,000 was raised to alleviate hunger in our community.

Our planning for 2014 is under way.  Save the date – Thanksgiving morning, November 27, 2014, 7:30 a.m.

The event is hosted by Trinity Reformed Church with help from Living Water Community Church and other Orange City Residents.

We’re doing registration and results through AllSportCentral this year.  This is a site that many regional runners already use and it will be convenient for posting results as well.

If you register before September 15, the cost is only $17.  Before November 20 and the cost is $22.  After November 20, registration jumps to $27.  (There is a  processing fee at the end of the registration process.)  Get signed up, spread the word, and enjoy the summer running season ahead.

The first column is overall place.  The last column is place within age and gender class.  Let us know if you notice any errors.

We did have a few prizes in age groups go unclaimed.  We’ll hold onto them for a few days before giving them away to volunteers.  Also, 5 unclaimed packets were left behind.  If yours is one of them, we’ll also hang onto them for a few days before giving away T-shirts to volunteers.

We’d love to hear from you about the experience.  In any first-time event, there are bound to glitches.  Our key volunteers are ready to host another run next Thanksgiving, so let us know what went well and what needs improving.  You can use the comments of this blog post, or simply email us at octurkeytrot@gmail.com.
